Today. My 2nd DAy oF ReseaRch. It's very fulfilling, exciting and tedious at the same time.
I had a super Interesting Crash Course on lab work. Starting from stretch... I 'spring-cleaned' the fume hood, hunt for my chemicals, get all the apparatus ready etc etc. Followin tat, I have to pick up various separating and purification methods. NMR, Distillating solvents... and hopefully column chromatography tml! =P
Oh, thanks to my good luck! I've got a super patient and meticulous mentor. It's interesting tat he not only focuses on how we perform the experiments, but also correct our attitudes and misunderstandings at the same time. Safety is his first priority. ALWAYs =) Amazingly, he seems to know which chemical has a foul smell, which are toxic and specifically to which ORGAn of our body?! (great memory power, orz !)
His advises are quite accurate, cos most of the time, he points out my achilles' heels! hmm, quote of the day...
胆大心细- the attitude to adapt while working in lab. and I can't agree more!
Well, so for ppl who are not so familiar with lab work yet, try to remind yourself this. Maybe u'll find yourself breaking fewer glasswares and producing more yield!
Overall, i like the environment and all the ppl I'm working with. (though I'm a little pissed tat my access card is still DENIED?)
LOLz...^^ it does need a bit of luck to produce results. wish me luck~
